RSR Corner Guide - Bergwerk
Following the mental ‘half way point’ of Breidscheid and Ex-Muhle, The combination of Lauda-Links and Bergwerk comes at a less than ideal time, with excitement levels high and concentration levels starting to get low.
Named for the lead and silver mines that were in use until the 1900’s, Bergwerk (Literally: hill work) can be considered one of the most important corners in the circuit, due to the long, uphill, high speed section following.
Approach (Race situation / For experts!)
After the flat out corner of Lauda-Links, Bergwerk is a long, closed-in right hander, with a fast, heavy braking entry. Getting it wrong by apexing too early here is easy, usually leading to a consequent lift of power before the exit, ruining the run up towards Kesselchen.
