Germany - Hockenheimring
Situated near the town of Hockenheim, south of Frankfurt Main and only about 2 hours from the Nurburgring, the Hockenheimring is the 'other' location of the German Formula One Grand Prix. RSR has a range of rental cars you can hire to drive the Hockenheimring, offering 'Arrive and Drive' packages in the latest Porsche, Ferrari, Nissan GT-R and more!
Another of the historical 'old-style' tracks, Hockenheim has its roots stretching back to the 1930's, where forest roads were used to create the first iteration of the track - primarily for motorcycle racing. Later, the track was expanded to become a test track for Mercedes Bernz and Auto Union in 1936. Originally almost 8km long, with the two long straight stretching into the forest that created a very fast (and very dangerous) top speed section.
The current 4.5km long, modern Grand Prix track was re-designed in 2001 due to safety concerns, but the track still retains much of the character of the track of old. The current track is a amazing combination of slow turns and exciting, fast turns, high speed sections, twisty chicanes, hard braking and great overtaking zones.
